Crown Prince Haakon recently inspected Granåsen in connection with an Advisory Board meeting of the 2025 FIS World Ski Championships. He was impressed by the WSC facility and is already looking forward to the championship in Trondheim.

The Advisory Board consists of members from the Trondheim Municipality, representatives from the military, the police, the business community, and FIS. Crown Prince Haakon is also part of the board, led by Tove Moe Dyrhaug, president of the Norwegian Ski Federation.

“It’s impressive how far they’ve come in the planning. Much of the facility is already complete, but there’s still some work left. What’s finished looks great. I think this has the potential to become fantastic,” said the Crown Prince to NRK.

The Advisory Board received the latest updates on the World Championship project. There was much discussion about volunteerism, sustainability, the sporting aspects, and the logistics surrounding the championship. There was also a significant focus on the flow of the audience and social sustainability.

“We had some very productive discussions, and we received many valuable tips from people with a wealth of experience. It was beneficial and something we will carry forward in our ongoing work,” said Åge Skinstad, CEO of Trondheim 2025.

On his way out, an NRK reporter asked the Crown Prince if he was looking forward to the World Championships in Trondheim. He smiled and replied:

“I’m looking forward to it, and I think all of you can as well,” he said.

“Will you visit Trondheim during the World Championships?”

“I will be here. I’m planning to, yes. Absolutely,” the Crown Prince smiled before getting into the car and heading to his next visit during his two-day trip in Trondheim.
