The Medal Plaza at the WSC in Trondheim is the place for spectacular shows, emotional athletes, and lifelong memories.

“This will be the biggest celebration in Trøndelag in nearly 30 years,” says Endre Forbord, Cultural Director for the Ski World Championships 2025.

Up to 25,000 people can experience the medal concerts and ceremonies during the Ski World Championships in Trondheim by utilizing parts of Munkegata to the south and Kongensgate to the east, along with the square itself.

The stage will stand 20 meters tall—two meters higher than the Olav Tryggvason statue—and will be placed at the northern end of Munkegata, near Hevd and Burger King. An 85-meter-long catwalk will bring the audience closer to the ski stars.

“Marit Bjørgen has said that she felt like a rock star on the catwalk during the Ski World Championships in Oslo. We’ve taken inspiration from that,” says Forbord.

The Medal Plaza guarantees goosebumps. This means the World Championship organizers are investing significant time and resources to make the ceremonies and concerts accessible to everyone and a memory for life. The lighting will illuminate buildings, the catwalk, and the stage. The sound of the World Championships will echo throughout all the ceremonies. Ski stars will take center stage in the storytelling, while effects such as silent fireworks synchronized to music and video create an atmosphere beyond imagination.

“People won’t know what hit them when they see the opening ceremony—it will be a preview of what’s to come for the rest of the World Championships. Everything happening at the plaza guarantees goosebumps,” he says with a gleam in his eye.
