Swix is providing waxing assistance to nations that lack the expertise and resources to prepare skis for the World Ski Championships in Trondheim. Norwegian Ski Federation President Tove Moe Dyrhaug applauds the initiative and hopes to expand the effort.
One thousand athletes from 74 nations are set to compete in the World Championships in Trondheim. Many do not have the necessary resources or knowledge to bring their waxing teams. Therefore, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has decided that nations such as Greece, Lebanon, Portugal, Chile, and Argentina, among others, will receive support.
“It is very positive that skiing is becoming increasingly international. At the same time, this requires that we, as major skiing nations, step up with resources and expertise. The waxing assistance provided by Swix helps to further develop the sport, ensuring that talented and hardworking athletes improve and experience success. It is important to show that we are a ski family,” says Dyrhaug.

Swix has been offering this waxing assistance on behalf of FIS since 2015.
“We receive a lot of positive feedback from athletes who are thrilled to compete on well-prepared skis finally. That is something we find incredibly rewarding. We are well-staffed in Trondheim and hope to create many great experiences for the athletes at this championship,” says Swix International Racing Manager Steffen Hoos.
Many athletes receiving waxing support will compete in the qualification races on Wednesday, February 26. A few will qualify for the main events at the World Championships, while most will only participate in the qualification rounds.

Tove Moe Dyrhaug aims to continue this initiative for the Junior World Championships in Trondheim 2026.
“Organizing the Junior World Championships in Norway with a shared waxing setup would be fantastic. We need to work towards reducing the gap between the larger and smaller skiing nations,” says Dyrhaug.
