Despite heavy rain and strong winds, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships has reached its ambitious ticket goal. A total of 221,000 ski fans have secured their WSC tickets!

Now, the only remaining grandstand tickets are for Sunday, March 9. Saturday, March 8, has been sold out for a long time.

“We are thrilled and relieved to have surpassed our goal of 220,000 tickets. Many people have worked hard for years to reach this moment,” says VM director Åge Skinstad.

There were doubts about the public’s interest in skiing, the enthusiasm for the World Championships, and whether the weather would keep people away. But all doubts have been swept aside.

“Undoubtedly, the Norwegian people were determined to join the ski festival in Trondheim. Thanks to everyone who has braved the rain and wind, both in Granåsen and at the Medal Plaza, which contributed to this historic ski festival. It’s an emotional day,” he says.

Ticket sales have slowly but steadily increased throughout the fall, but they really took off in the final weeks leading up to the championship.

“I had a good feeling but was also realistic and a bit worried. Luckily, the concern didn’t last long. Once again, thank you to everyone who showed up. You have all helped create the greatest World Championship celebration of all time – just as we dreamed of, concludes Skinstad.
