Mari Boine

The cultural icon Mari Boine is coming to Trondheim during Ski-VM 2025!

Mari Boine was the artist who broke the suffocating silence between the Sami and Norwegians with her debut album, ' Jaskatvuođa maŋŋá' ('After the Silence'), in 1985. She followed this with 'Gula Gula' ('Hear the Voices of Our Ancestors') in 1989.

She has filled the challenging space between the two cultures. In the beginning, it was a hard and painful realization that her success was ignored by her own people—even when she conquered the world music  scene with Peter Gabriel by her side. Today, she greatly appreciates the fighting spirit of the young Sami generation, which is taking their culture and history to an entirely new level.
