Here, you can explore the different sections where we require volunteers.
When you register as a volunteer, you will have the option to select your top three preferred areas. Detailed schedules and further information will be provided as we get closer to the event. We need volunteers both during the World Championships and at some pre-championship events in the lead-up to 2025. You can also sign up as a volunteer for these.
Pre-World Championship volunteer tasks
Ski-VM envisions becoming the most sustainable ski world championship ever. To achieve this goal, numerous sustainability projects will be undertaken leading up to the event. Additionally, we require volunteers who can help document all our sustainability efforts during the execution. We will also organize various activities on the road to the championship to highlight essential sustainability themes, where we need volunteers who can contribute.
For both the events leading up to 2025 and during the Ski World Championships, we require skilled filmmakers and photographers to assist in documenting the championship and capturing images for our promotional, marketing, and documentation purposes. Roles in this section require significant experience and strong expertise in the field, and you should have your camera and a personal computer for editing. In this role, you can contribute throughout the year, whenever there's an event or activity taking place.
In the Marketing section, sponsors and partners will be managed, and in collaboration with them, we aim to maximize the visibility and attention for the World Championships. While the content team documents what's happening, the marketing team is responsible for making it happen. It's also possible to contribute on the journey leading up to 2025, as we'll be organizing numerous events and maintaining a presence in the run-up to the championship.
Volunteer tasks during the World Championships
Akkreditering har ansvar for godkjenning og kategorisering av alle personer som vil ha en offisiell tilknytning til ski-VM 2025. Responsible for facilitating Antidoping Norway and FIS requirements, ensuring that athletes selected for doping control are accompanied by chaperones and comply with applicable guidelines. A strong commitment to clean sports is essential, and you will be a key advocate for Ski-VM's policies and initiatives in the lead-up to the championship.
The Arena Production team at Granåsen is dedicated to delivering unique experiences and unforgettable memories for the audience. Responsibilities include managing technical aspects, providing speaker services, coordinating outdoor reporters, creating an exciting atmosphere in the stadium, and organizing flower ceremonies. Additionally, you can sign up to be a mascot and contribute to events leading up to the championship as well as participate at the stadium during the championship.
Responsible for conducting ticket sales at the World Championships' own outlets and at the arena's ticket counters, as well as assisting with access control. Also, in charge of staffing merchandise booths for World Championships products. You should be proficient with numbers, service-oriented, and have a friendly demeanor.
Responsible for coordinating with the various hotels where the accredited guests of the Ski World Championships are staying, ensuring that the desired level of service is provided. We will have a helpdesk at each of the major hotels for the accredited guests. The helpdesk is responsible for assisting with various inquiries and answering questions from the guests.
The function aims to enhance the atmosphere and overall experience for participants and the audience at Granåsen. It will provide entertainment at designated locations within the arena, such as stages at the cross-country stadium, the ski jump, the spectator tent, and the approach to Granåsen. This role will ensure that these areas are lively and engaging, both before and after the competitions and during intermissions.
Volunteer Services is responsible for catering, attire, and well-being initiatives for all volunteer functionaries. It is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the functionary center throughout the Ski World Championships. You should be positive, outgoing, and proactive in this role.
Responsible for all competitions, qualifications, and official training sessions that take place in the ski jumping arena. We need volunteers for the following roles: track preparers, slope maintenance, wind measurement, brushers, distance measurers, mixed zone, rigging, national areas, and starters.
Responsible for everything happening inside the cross-country arena in Granåsen, including competitions for cross-country skiing, para-cross-country, and the cross-country part of the Nordic combined, as well as official training sessions. We require volunteers for the following roles: wax control, course marshals, national areas, race office, stadium, technique control, and timekeeping.
Responsible for kiosk sales to the public and facilitating food service in the arena for all accredited groups and the spectator tent. Staffing is needed at all retail locations, as well as for delivering goods to kiosks, tents, and catering areas for accredited groups. This role also includes responsibility for cleanliness and maintenance of the catering facilities.
Responsible for the main media center at Granåsen, taking care of rights holders, photographers, written press, results services, and the mixed zone inside the stadium. It also involves setting up a media operation in the square during the ceremonies. This role is responsible for service and ensuring that the press and media can efficiently cover the Ski World Championships. Proficiency in written and spoken Norwegian and English is required. As the public face to all visiting media and press, you are cheerful and service-oriented.
Medical Services are in place at the arenas to provide medical assistance to accredited personnel and the audience if necessary. Competence in the field is required.
As a national host/attache, your responsibility is to support teams and athletes from their arrival in Trondheim until their departure. We are looking for individuals with language skills, strong communication, and knowledge of the city and region. This group is part of the team service during the event.
Granåsen Arena Operations is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Granåsen venue, including all permanent installations as well as temporary and provisional setups. This section encompasses a wide range of tasks, such as technical operations, electrical and IT services, building maintenance, snow removal, graveling, ensuring the functionality of all temporary installations, and much more.
Responsible for hosting Ski World Championships' invited guests throughout all venues. This includes tasks such as reception, catering, and facilitation.
The Security section is responsible for ensuring effective and adequate security for Ski-VM 2025. We need volunteers for security duties, parking at the main venues, and related areas such as parking lots outside the venue, as well as traffic control.
The section is an integral part of the host role towards athletes, teams, and the industry. It is responsible for all information desks at hotels, training facilities outside the venue, conducting study groups, monitoring weather services, and all national hosts (see separate registration). Its mission is to provide excellent information to teams, athletes, and the industry. You are a service-oriented individual who enjoys helping others.
Responsible for the transportation of accredited guests and the public, as well as signage. Also in charge of logistics to and within the arena, including inventory management and goods transportation.
Volunteers in the VIP section during the Ski World Championships in Trondheim 2025 can expect a busy but rewarding experience. They will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our VIP guests and ensuring they have everything they need to enjoy the World Championships. VM 2025 plans various VIP concepts and areas within the venues. This role also includes coordination and liaison with the Ski World Championships' sponsors.
Responsible for planning and executing the overall artistic content of the Ski World Championships. This includes all planning and direction for the opening and medal ceremonies, the design and construction of the Medal Plaza arena located in Trondheim's town square, and coordination of the Winter Festival, a cultural festival aimed at involving the entire city center and Trøndelag in the celebration.
Prior to the championship, there is a lot of temporary infrastructure to be constructed and set up. The majority of this work is done before the championship, but tasks may arise during the event as well. There is also a need to dismantle and clear all equipment and infrastructure after the championship.
The Ski World Championships 2025 aims to be an event for everyone. This means that all venues must be accessible to those with disabilities and others who require special assistance.
Both before, during, and after both the World Cup and Ski-VM, we aim to be visible on social media, websites, and in the media landscape. We are looking for creative individuals who understand these platforms and can tell a compelling story. Continuous content production is needed to highlight the community life, the issues the VM will focus on, and activities from sponsors. Documentation of events is also essential, and materials should be created for future use. The section is also responsible for direct communication via newsletters/alerts to the public to ensure the optimal execution of the events. In this section, you have the opportunity to contribute year-round, both before and during the World Cup and VM. There are opportunities to contribute throughout the year if you wish!
